Our Team

Dr. Ted Andrews is trained as both a pediatric psychologist and pediatrician.  He completed his Ph.D. at The Ohio State University (‘93) in Psychology with an emphasis on Behavioral Pediatrics and a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine/Children‘s Seashore House (’95).  He practiced as a Pediatric Psychologist for 10 years before entering medical school at St. George’s University where he graduated with an MD (‘08). He completed his medical residency in Pediatrics at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  He has over thirty years of professional experience specializing in developmental disabilities. Dr. Andrews evaluates and treats children and adolescents with a wide range of developmental and behavioral difficulties including:

  • Learning disorders and other school-related learning problems
  • Attention and behavioral disorders
  • Tics, Tourette syndrome, and other habit disorders
  • Regulatory disorders including sleep disorders, feeding problems, discipline difficulties, complicated toilet-training issues, enuresis (bedwetting), and encopresis (soiling)
  • Developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, and visual and hearing impairment
  • Behavioral and developmental problems complicating the full range of pediatric chronic illnesses and disabling conditions (for example, genetic disorders, epilepsy, prematurity, diabetes, asthma, cancer).

Prior to returning to the field of developmental and behavioral pediatrics, Dr. Andrews spent five years as a pediatric hospitalist and second attending in the Emergency Department at the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital.  He began his medical career as a pediatric hospitalist for Catholic Health at Mercy South Buffalo Hospital.


Dr. Alissa Schiske completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Medaille University (’22) with an emphasis in child and adolescent psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Oishei Children’s Hospital/Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as a member of the psychosocial team in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology program. Dr. Schiske completed her post-doctoral experience at a private practice in Buffalo, providing assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults in Western New York.

She has experience working with children, young adults, and families in a variety of settings. Dr. Schiske specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with a wide range of developmental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties including:

  • Learning disorders and other school-related learning problems
  • Attention and behavioral disorders
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Anxiety and related disorders
  • Depressive disorders and behavioral
  • Emotional concerns related to chronic illness.
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
